On June 21st we presented two awards, The 2016 Tech Tour Digital Health Award and the Tech Tour Medtech Award of the Healthtech Summit. Congratulations to Mindmaze and CeQur for their achievement!

The 2016 Awards celebrated excellence in entrepreneurship and successful commercialization of innovative health technology in Europe making
significant
global impact in healthcare. The awards are designed to highlight the successful development of a European company that has made significant achievements since their presentation at a prior Tech Tour Healthtech or Medtech Summit or with a most impressive market traction and fundraising activity to date.

Since its inception in 2008, the Tech Tour Healthtech Summits have profiled some of the most promising European Medtech companies. To date over 450 companies have been reviewed by senior professionals on the Selection Committee and 168 companies have been selected to participate in Tech Tour Summits to date.  The 2016 Tech Tour Healthtech Awards was presented at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne on June 21, 2016.

Tej Tadi
CEO, MindMaze



Dr. Tej Tadi brings a knowledge of 10 years’ experience at the intersection of technology and medicine where he has successfully translated cutting edge solutions to the clinic. He has a background in electronics engineering, virtual reality & computer graphics through his work at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Switzerland. During hisPhD, he set up an immersive virtual reality system in combination with state-of-the-art brain imaging technologies enabling trans-disciplinary work in cognitive psychology, neuroimaging, and virtual reality, and leading to visible scientific publications and awards (Pfizer Award for Neuroscience in 2009).  He founded MindMaze in 2011 to develop novel applications in Neuro-Rehabilitation, Game Training & next generation Neural Interfaces.  MindMaze has already commercialized medical grade hospital and home products based on its platform to accelerate recovery for a wide spectrum of neurological deficits. MindMaze has also launched products for consumer gaming, including the world’s first neuro goggles combining neural sensing with embedded motion capture cameras, to harness the power of players’ minds to enhance gameplay experiences in both VR & AR.  MindMaze will continue to leverage its scientific breakthroughs and advanced HMI platform into a number of other disruptive product lines that can address critical challenges in large, growing industries such as Transportation, Media and Defense.

 

MindMaze is a neuro technology company that has developed a breakthrough real-time virtual reality (VR) platform with proprietary hardware and software. Products treating stroke, brain injury and amputee patients are being tested in key US and Swiss centers. With our home product, therapy can be self-administered while being monitored remotely by the clinician. In the near future, MindMotion products will help treat patients suffering from neurodegenerative disorders. Medical grade platform is now being translated to consumer VR/AR applications.

Doug Lawrence
CEO, CeQur



Mr. Lawrence is a 25-year veteran of the medical devices industry, with a diverse background in R&D, marketing, finance and general management roles.   Before CeQur, Mr. Lawrence was an executive at Becton Dickinson & Company, where he most recently served as Vice President for the company's Insulin Injectionbusiness, and led global launches of a number of insulin delivery innovations.  Mr. Lawrence’s background includes medical device and pharmaceutical industry experience at category-leading companies including Procter & Gamble and The BOC Group.  Prior to his work at BD Diabetes Care, he was responsible for the development and launch of innovative products in ophthalmology, infusion therapy, critical care and consumer health.   He has a degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and business degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School.
