What is the Tech Tour?


The European Tech Tour Association is an independent not for profit organization committed to the development of emerging technology companies from Europe.

Our contribution to the high tech industry is through the development of European regional Tech Tours and Vertical Industry Summits that bring together the entire technology ecosystem of local and global players.

Goals

  • To provide a platform that allows interactions between the three main groups, ENTREPRENEURS, INVESTORS and INDUSTRY PLAYERS eventually leading to facilitating or funding local companies looking to expand internationally.
  • To bring more transparency to Europe's regional markets and to build a stronger relationship between its members and each region

Background


The European Tech Tour Association (ETT) was founded in Geneva in 1998 in response to growing interest to visit emerging technology companies in various European regions. ETT is an independent organization composed of key contributors to the high-technology industry. The association recognizes that continued prosperity in Europe lies in its ability to transform today's innovative projects into tomorrow's global technology leaders.

Although some European regions or industry segments show a higher density of innovative projects and expertise than others, extraordinary competence, entrepreneurship and dynamism can be found throughout Europe. Each region or segment is hiding a handful of raw gems deserving more attention and requiring guidance to quickly achieve global success. ETT's goal is to find these companies and help them to achieve that success.

We strongly believe that attending a Tech Tour is the most efficient way to get a real insight into a country′s high tech ecosystem and understand the local environment. The format is designed to facilitate interactions and tight relationships. Special venues are chosen to facilitate maximum interaction and offer an unforgettable cultural experience to the delegates.

Each Tech Tour or Summit is led by a local President, who has a strong reputation within their region or industry. The President puts in place a selection committee with 15 to 20 leading professionals (best practice) in their region or industry to assist with the company selection as well as the logistics and planning of the event. They identify the 25 to 30 most attractive regional or industry based projects to be presented, and organize a 2 and a half day Tech Tour. Both the President and their selection committee work on a volunteer basis.

The Association organizes 2 regional specific tours per year to identify the best emerging companies as well as 2 vertical industry events per year to capture the most innovative European companies in a specific industry segment such as Cloud & ICT, Cleantech, Medtech and Web & Mobility.

Each tour typically runs two days, with an gala dinner held the 1st evening.

Each Vertical event runs 1 and a half days with panel discussions, a gala dinner and 25 to 30 startup presentations.
